Tehran (IP) - Iran President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, this Friday afternoon attending the Hazrat Sahib Al-Zaman (AS) mosque in Saleh Abad, located in the southwest of Tehran, participated in the parliamentarian runoff election, which was held electronically.

Iran PressIran news:  The Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, after casting his vote this morning in the second round of parliamentary elections, stated that participating in elections is a national duty that must be observed by citizens.

Iran's president noting that a strong parliament together with a strong government can contribute to a strong Iran, added: "I hope that a strong parliament will be formed by people's vote; a strong parliament can pass the laws needed by the country for progress."

The president emphasized that one of the prides of the Islamic Republic of Iran is that the political system is based on the people's vote and the formation of all institutions in this country is also based on the people's vote.

Raisi made the comment after casting his ballot in the second phase of the parliamentary election, which was held electronically on Friday afternoon at a mosque in Saleh Abad town, southwest of Tehran.

In Tehran and seven other constituencies, elections are held entirely electronically.

The first round of the 12th parliamentary elections was held on Friday, March 1st. Of the country's 87 million people, more than 61 million were eligible to vote in the polls.

Voters took part in the parliamentary elections to choose 290 legislative body members from over 15,000 candidates. Elected members will serve for a term of four years in the parliament. 219
