Iran Press/ Asia: Mehdi Safari, the Iranian deputy foreign minister for economic diplomacy, led an economic and trade delegation to Islamabad for talks with Pakistan about enhancing bilateral economic cooperation.
The economic negotiations between Iran and Pakistan were attended by Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam and Samar Ihsan, Senior Joint Secretary (WB) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Pakistan.
The focus of today's meeting is to review recent agreements made by President Ebrahim Raisi of Iran and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan.
The meeting will also discuss the barter mechanism's implementation and commercial, border, and customs relations. Additionally, the 21st Joint Economic Commission (JEC) agreement, which took place in Pakistan last summer, will be addressed.
The economic delegations of Iran and Pakistan will present the results of their agreements to the meeting of the two countries' foreign ministers for final approval.
During the initial meeting of the Iran-Pakistan negotiations regarding advancing economic cooperation, Safari emphasized the need for strong collaboration between the two countries to address financial problems.
The Iranian delegation's visit to Pakistan to implement bilateral agreements and achieve mutual interests between the two countries, according to Safari.
Meanwhile, Nasser Kanaani, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Iran, announced on Monday that based on the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, heading Islamabad on Wednesday.
Last year, the 21st meeting of the Joint Economic Commission (JEC) of Iran and Pakistan was held in Islamabad. In the end, four Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) were signed to expand bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
