(IP) - Iran and Malaysia signed a cooperation memorandum to cement agricultural ties in various sectors.

Iran PressIran News: Mohammad Sabu, the Malaysian Minister of Agriculture and Food Security on Sunday discussed with Mojtaba Khayam-Nekouei, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture in Iran,  to strengthen the ways of cooperation in agriculture and technology transfer between the two sides.

Khayam-Nekouei Pointed to Malaysia's need for many fruits, such as apples, kiwis, oranges, and tangerines, stressing Iran's capacity to export such products to Malaysia.

He added that Malaysia has good experience in Halal products, and cooperation between Iran and Malaysia is expected to happen. 

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security in Malaysia, Mohammad Sabu, highlighted the importance of utilizing Iran's expertise in technical knowledge, specifically in waterless rice cultivation and poultry and caviar breeding.

Sabu stated that the recent agreement will enhance the collaboration, trading, buying, and selling of agricultural products between Tehran and Kuala Lumpur.

Iran and Malaysia plan to collaborate on agricultural research, focusing on joint research on tropical fruits, water management, fisheries, horticulture, irrigation, and plant conservation.

They will also hold short-term courses and joint training workshops.
