The Iranian minister of culture and Islamic guidance has met and conferred with his Iraqi counterpart in Baghdad.

The Iranian minister of culture and Islamic guidance, Seyyed Abbas Salehi, has met with Iraq's undersecretary at the Ministry of Culture, Jaber Al-Jabri.  The meeting took place in Baghdad, the Iraqi capital, on Monday.

At this meeting both ministers called for expansion of Iran-Iraq cultural relations.

Before meeting with Al-Jabri, speaking at a gathering at the Iranian embassy in Baghdad, Seyyed Abbas Salehi underlined the importance of introducing Iranian cultural products to the Iraqi  market.

Iran's ambassador to Iraq, Iraj Masjedi, officials of Iran cultural office and cultural experts from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance were all present at the gathering.

Iran's minister of culture emphasized that the choice of Iraq for his first trip abroad signified the great importance he attached to cultural relations between Tehran and Baghdad.

Salehi expressed hope that his trip to Iraq would kick start new cooperation in various areas of art and culture between the two neighboring countries.

Iran's minister of culture and Islamic guidance, accompanied by senior officials from the ministry, arrived at Baghdad airport on Monday afternoon for a four-day visit, and was greeted by Iraq's deputy minister of culture.
