Tehran (IP) - Iran and Iraq signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday for the development and deepening of legal and judicial interactions.

Iran PressIran news: Iran's Judiciary Chief Golamhossein Mohseni-Ejei met with the head of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council Faiq Zaidan his accompanying delegation here in Tehran.

In the meeting, Mohseni-Ejei stated: "Iran and Iraq have had extensive judicial, cultural, political, security, and economic cooperation in recent years. The role of the judicial systems of the two countries in developing these extensive connections was prominent and effective."

For his part, the head of the Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq, while sincerely appreciating the hospitality of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said: "The Iraqi judicial system is making great efforts at all levels to consolidate positive and constructive relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran."

The two sides discussed judicial cooperation between the two countries, and the meeting also witnessed the signing of a judicial memorandum of understanding between the two countries.

"The visit was aimed at completing the efforts and actions that have been taken in the past. The MOU signed today with the aim of developing and deepening the legal and judicial cooperation between Iran and Iraq is aimed at strengthening and consolidating the previous memorandums between the judicial institutions of Iran and Iraq," Zaidan said.
