(IP) - The Iraqi Minister of Health and the head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) emphasized the development of cooperation between Iran and Iraq in healthcare during the Arbaeen trek.

Iran PressIran News: Pir-Hossein Kolivand, the head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, met with Iraqi Health Minister Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi, in Tehran.

According to Kolivand, the IRCS is involved in the production of medicine and medical equipment and has established a notable presence in the market for specific products, including Medical Filters, Dialysis sets, and Injection Syringes.

"In recent years, the Red Crescent Society, in collaboration with knowledge-based companies, has produced artificial electronic devices and increased the self-sufficiency of Iran, Kolivand added.

According to the head of IRCS, a potential field for Iran-Iraq collaboration is training rescue workers to be ready to respond to any disastrous situation effectively. 

He emphasized the crucial role that the Iranian Red Crescent Society plays in providing public training, which enhances community readiness and offers specialized rescue training.

The Iraqi Health Minister has highlighted the opening of Imam Ali Hospital in Najaf, facilitated by the Iranian Red Crescent Society, as a promising step towards ongoing collaboration between the two nations. 

Al-Hasnawi emphasized that Iran-Iraq healthcare cooperation extends beyond just the Arbaeen pilgrimage days and encompasses a year-round collaboration between the two countries.

"Iran and Iraq have a common heritage, and every year, millions of Iranian pilgrims come to Karbala and Najaf, and millions of Iraqis come to Mashhad," added to Al-Hasnawi. 

Naseer Abdul Mohsen Abdullah Al-Karawi, Iraq's ambassador to Iran, appreciated the international activities of the Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran and said: "The participation of the Iranian Red Crescent in helping all countries of the world and its substantial presence in international operations is commendable."
