Tehran (IP) - In the past Iranian calendar year spanning from March 20, 2023, to March 20, 2024, Iran saw a substantial import of approximately 29.7 tons of gold bars valued at over $1.9 billion.

Iran Press/Iran news: According to Shada, Mohammad Rezvani-Far, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), disclosed this information, noting that three percent of the total import value during the period was dedicated to gold bars.

The majority of the gold bullion imports, as detailed by Rezvani-Far, came through various customs points, with Imam Khomeini Airport customs accounting for 74.58%, Bashmaq customs for 16%, Tabriz customs for 7%, and the remaining percentage from Mashhad customs, Isfahan Airport, Shiraz Airport, and Isfahan customs.

A notable development in this arena occurred in December 2023 when the government approved facilitating the importation of gold bars. Subsequently, the import of gold bars was commenced.
