Iran Press/ Iran News: On the sidelines of the cabinet session on Wednesday, March 15, Ensiyyeh Khazali referred to the exit of Iran from the UN's Commission on the Status of Women and said despite the exit, she presented her speech virtually and sent it to the UN.
The 54-member UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) voted on a US-drafted resolution to cancel Iran's membership in the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women for the remainder of its 2022-2026 term.
The Group of Friends to Defense of the United Nations Charter rejected the move as illegal; Algeria, Angola, Belarus, Bolivia, Cambodia, China, Cuba, North Korea, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Islamic Republic of Iran, Laos, Nicaragua, the State of Palestine, Russia, Saint Vincent, and the Grenadines, Syria, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe are members of this group
The Friends of the United Nations Charter group was formed in 2021 with the aim of preserving, promoting, and defending the superiority and validity of the United Nations Charter with the participation of 19 countries, including the Islamic Republic of Iran.
