Iran Press/ Iran news: Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, in a telephone conversation initiated by the EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell on Friday evening, discussed the latest developments related to the Vienna talks on lifting Iran's sanctions and the most important international developments, including the Ukraine crisis.
Amir-Abdollahian referred to the continuation of consultations to lift US sanctions against the Islamic Republic and said that there is no doubt in the determination of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to reach a good, strong and lasting agreement.
Referring to the recent visit of Enrique Mora, the European Union's deputy secretary-general for political affairs to Tehran, Amir-Abdollahian said that some initiatives had been considered during his visit.
"Tehran has the goodwill to reach an agreement," he added, praising the constructive efforts of Josef Borrell and Enrique Mora.
Referring to the crisis in Ukraine, Amir-Abdollahian stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always emphasized that it is opposed to any war, including in Ukraine.
Iran's top diplomat announced Iran's readiness to mediate in the Ukraine crisis and stressed Tehran's support for peace and security.
For his part, the EU foreign policy chief referred to the initiatives put forward by the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Vienna talks, and said: "We are now on a new path of continuing the dialogue and focusing on solutions."
Borrell added: "We are determined to continue our efforts in the ongoing contact between Tehran and Washington in order to bring the views closer."
"I hope to achieve a good result," said Borrell.
Borrell also praised the Islamic Republic of Iran's efforts to resolve the Ukraine crisis and said that Iran's efforts to invite the parties to talks were due to the goodwill of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
"Unfortunately, the two sides accuse each other of not having the goodwill to talk, and in such circumstances, it will be difficult to achieve peace," he said.
