Iran Press/Iran news: Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Seyyed Abbas Araghchi made the remarks on Friday at Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Ministerial Meeting, which was held in New York coinciding with the 74th United Nations General Assembly session, saying that holding the meeting is significant as it coincides with increased US unilateral and hegemonic illegal actions.
"Such illegitimate behaviour will not only result in a dangerous and unpredictable future for developing countries but also negatively impact welfare and development of future generations," he noted according to Iran Press.
"Under such conditions that multilateralism is under unprecedented attack, ECO, as a successful multilateral organization engaged in multilateral diplomacy, has created a unique atmosphere for promoting cooperation and implementing major projects in the region," Araghchi added.
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister went on to say that although ECO has had undeniable progress, it still has a long road ahead of it to meet the full expectations of the peoples of the region.
He expressed hope that serious cooperation between ECO member states, as well as implementation of new plans and initiatives set out with the goals of ECO Vision 2015 particularly on trade, energy, transportation, and tourism is concentrated upon to create significant developments in the organisation's activities.
