Gholamhossein Dehghani, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Belgium

Belgium (IP) - Criticizing the policies of some Western countries, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Belgium said that countries that had closed their doors to refugees cannot expect neighboring countries to keep their gates open to immigrants.

Iran PressEurope: Gholamhossein Dehghani, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Belgium, participated in a webinar on "The Consequences of the Situation in Afghanistan for the Silk Road and its Outlook".

He stressed the need for international assistance to the countries of the region to manage the forthcoming migration crisis, noting that if the world community continues to be passive in this regard, the collapse of the economy and society in Afghanistan would be certain, and the direct result of this would be a flood of asylum seekers whose final destination is Europe.

Ambassador also said that Iran had done all it could so far and all those who entered the territory of Iran had received basic services.

The webinar was hosted by the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD). This center, as its name suggests, is active in the field of policy-making and reporting in the field of immigrants and refugees, and is responsible for the implementation of part of joint projects between Iran and the European Union in the field of immigration and asylum.
