Iran Press/Iran News: According to Iran Press, Ali Asghar Khaji, senior political assistant to Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Saturday said: “Since the beginning of the cruel war in Yemen, the Islamic Republic of Iran has always insisted on efforts to end the war and bloodshed, start Yemeni peace talks and end the cruel siege of the Yemeni nation as well as rapid delivery of humanitarian aid to this country.”
The diplomat made the remark in a meeting with Mohammed Abdul-Salam, spokesman for Yemen's Ansarullah, who is leading a high-level delegation to Iran. The Yemeni delegation thanked Iran for its assistance to the country that is being attacked by Saudi Arabia and its allies.
Backed by the United States, the Saudi regime and some of its Arab allies invaded Yemen in 2015 and have enforced a strict blockade of the country by ground, air, and sea ever since.
The Saudi war has impacted over seven million children in Yemen who now face a serious threat of famine, according to UNICEF figures.
Over 6,000 children have either been killed or sustained serious injuries since 2015, the UN children’s agency said. The humanitarian situation in the country has also been exacerbated by outbreaks of cholera, polio, and measles
The US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED), a nonprofit conflict-research organization, estimates that the war has claimed more than 91,000 lives over the past four and a half years.104/219
