Iran Press/Iran news: "Sanctioning the US ambassador Christopher Hansel is for his role in the war and killing of the innocent and oppressed people of Yemen, arms, financial and political support for the aggressor coalition, continuing cruel and inhumane sanctions against the Yemeni people and playing a role in the sinister scenario of disintegration, destructive actions to bring the political settlement of the Yemeni crisis to a standstill and the continuation of the humanitarian catastrophe as the greatest tragedy of the century," the statement said.
"Pursuant to Note 1 of Article 4 and Note 1 of Article 5 of the "Law on Combating Human Rights Violations and Adventurous and Terrorist Acts of the United States in the Region" approved by the Islamic Consultative Assembly on August 12, 2020, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs based on sufficient information and evidence to prove that US Ambassador to Yemen Christopher Hansel has played an effective role in organizing, financing, and arming, leading the aggressor coalition and shaping the humanitarian catastrophe in Yemen, he is also a clear example of the persons mentioned in paragraphs 3 to 5 of Article 4 and paragraphs 2 of Article 5 due to his participation in violations of international law, including the rights of the people of the region and his role in imposing oppressive and illegal US sanctions on the Yemeni people."
"So from the date of issuance of the statement (December 9, 2020) he is designated in the list of persons subject to sanctions under the law."
"From this date on, Christopher Hansel will be subject to the consequences and requirements outlined in the Convention on countering US' Human Rights violations and Adventurism and Terrorism in the Region," it said.
