Iran, Japan FMs phone conversation

Iran and Japan foreign ministers held a telephone conversation on Wednesday, discussing issues of mutual interest including the 2015 nuclear agreement.

Iran Press/Iran News: Mohammad Javad Zarif discussed various issues including the nuclear agreement on Wednesday’s phone call. Japan's Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi has urged his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif to halt action that would undermine the 2015 nuclear agreement between Iran and six world powers, according to NHK.

Zarif explained Iran's stance, saying that the economic benefits promised in the nuclear deal have not been secured because of sanctions by the United States.

Motegi also noted that Japan will continue diplomatic efforts to ease tensions in the Middle East. Zarif responded that he wants to closely communicate with Japan.
