Tehran (IP)- The inter-Afghan dialogue summit was inaugurated on Wednesday morning in Tehran in the presence of representatives of the Afghan government, high-ranking republican figures and the Taliban delegation, hosted by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iran Press/Iran news: At the opening speech, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed the United States' defeat in Afghanistan and its presence in the Asian country for more than two decades, saying: "Today, the people and political leaders of Afghanistan must make difficult decisions for their country's future."

Iranian foreign minister stressed the best option by Afghan political leaders and currents is for them to return to the negotiating table and be committed to political solutions, adding Tehran's readiness to assist in the ongoing dialogue between the factions to resolve the crises.

Zarif also stressed Iran's commitment to contributing to Afghanistan's comprehensive political, economic and social development after peace.
