Iran Press/Iran news: At the opening speech, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed the United States' defeat in Afghanistan and its presence in the Asian country for more than two decades, saying: "Today, the people and political leaders of Afghanistan must make difficult decisions for their country's future."
Iranian foreign minister stressed the best option by Afghan political leaders and currents is for them to return to the negotiating table and be committed to political solutions, adding Tehran's readiness to assist in the ongoing dialogue between the factions to resolve the crises.
Zarif also stressed Iran's commitment to contributing to Afghanistan's comprehensive political, economic and social development after peace.
A related point to consider is that the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in this round of talks will be led by Younus Qanooni, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, and the Taliban delegation will be headed by Abbas Stanikzai, Deputy Head of the Taliban's political office in Dubai.
