Iran Press/ Asia: India’s Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on Sunday launched a K-4 intermediate-range, nuclear-capable submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) from a submerged platform off the coast of Andhra Pradesh in southeastern India, according to 'India Today' news website.
The missile under development by DRDO will be equipped on indigenous INS Arihant class nuclear-powered submarines of the Navy.
Some Indian government sources reported that the test-firing of the K-4 SLBM was successful. Neither DRDO nor the Indian Ministry of Defense has officially confirmed the missile launch.
In open competition with Pakistan, India has always sought to increase its military power by conducting various missile tests.
Due to constant tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, the race between India and Pakistan has always been of concern to the international community. 212/211/207
