Iran Press/America: Ilhan Omar, the Muslim representative of the US Congress, in a meeting at the Foreign Affairs Committee of the US House of Representatives, challenged the policy of US President Joe Biden towards Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
"Given that the US has left the JCPOA and will not return to the nuclear deal, how can I expect Iran to adhere to the obligations and take the first step in this regard," Ilhan Omar told US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
The Biden administration has said it intends to bring the United States back to the JCPOA nuclear deal that former President Donald Trump withdrew from on May 8, 2018.
However, in recent days, Biden government officials have said that they will return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) after Iran steps back from retaliatory measures. The remarks come as Washington has unilaterally withdrawn from the nuclear deal.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has stated that, given that Washington has been the one side that violated the agreement, and the reduction of Tehran's obligations were in response to the illegal action of the United States, any step will be taken by Tehran after the lifting of sanctions by the US. 219
