The 29th edition of International Biology Olympiad (IBO) started in Tehran on 15 July 2018.

More than 260 students from 60 countries  are taking part in the event which will end on 22 July.

IBO 2018 is being organized by Iran's Ministry of Education, in partnership with  Tarbiat Modares University.

Participants in this scientific event will take two theoretical and four practical exams which are going to be held in Shahid Beheshti University.

The Opening ceremony of 29th edition of IBO  was attended by Iran's  minster of education  Seyyed Mohammad Bathayee , who was a key speaker at the event.  He also  unveiled a special memorial stamp designed by Iran's National Post Office, to commemorate  the 29th International Biology Olympiad in Tehran.

At  the 28th  IBO held in England, Iranian students managed to win  two gold and two silver medals.

The International Biology Olympiad (IBO) is a yearly Biology competition for secondary school students, who are winners of their respective National Biology Olympiad. Their skills in tackling biological problems, and dealing with biological experiments are tested. For a successful performance interest in biology, inventiveness, creativity and perseverance are necessary. IBO gathers young people from all over the world in an open, friendly and peaceful atmosphere. IBO is hosted every year by a different IBO member and takes one week.
