Iran Press/Iran news: Hyrcania summer festival has started in cities of Golestan Province due to its registration as a world heritage site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
This festival has attracted the general public's attention, and both the public and tourists have attended the festival in Golestan Province.
At the same time, a handicrafts exhibition has opened in Nahar Khoran region, near the city of Gorgan.
Iran's Hyrcanian forests were registered with UNESCO and included in the world heritage list. This was announced in a press conference in Tehran held on Monday, 22nd July 2019.
Hyrcanian woods (sometimes written as Hirkani woods) are estimated to be 40 million years old and are considered as one of Iran's most valuable forests, according to Iran Press.
The Hyrcania (also known as Hirkani) ecosystem is home to 296 species of birds, 98 species of mammals, and 150 native trees and bushes. These forests have different types of vegetation depending on the elevation. Its best-known trees are the rush, oak, alder, elm, ash, and cedar. 205/211/201
