Iran Press/Iran news: Referring to the unjust sanctions of the United States, especially in the field of healthcare, Minister of Health and Medical Education Saeed Namaki said: "Our economy is in a state of war. In this situation, perhaps many people do not know how we procure medicine and they also don't know how much we are trying not to let a surgery room gets out of service and we would not be ashamed."
Namaki was speaking in the opening ceremony of the new academic year at Tehran University which was held with the presence of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, the Minister of Science, Research and Technology Mansour Gholami and a group of university figures and students according to Iran Press.
On Mar. 16, the chairman of the Food and Drug Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran (FDA) Mehdi Pirsalehi said that the US sanctions against Iran include medicinal drugs and medical equipment.
"Unfortunately, because of some difficulties in financial channels and despite promises by the international community, drugs, and medical equipment are part of US sanctions against Iran," Pirsalehi noted.
Last year, US President Donald Trump pulled his country out of a nuclear deal struck by Iran and six world powers known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action under which Iran agreed to curb its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of sanctions.
The US president also reinstated the sanctions already lifted under the JCPOA and vowed to impose the highest level of the economic ban on Iran. 101/104
