The head of Iraq's Wisdom Movement has called on the national forces to open a new page based on mutual trust and joint action and to respect the law and the constitution.

Iran PressMiddle East: Ammar Al-Hakim was speaking Friday during the annual Husseini gathering in Al-Khilani Square in Baghdad.

"Respecting the law and the constitution, and preserving the status of the state and its institutions, is the safe path to preserving the rights and sovereignty of the people," Al-Hakim said.

He added, "From here, I call on all national and benevolent forces to transcend previous differences and intersections and open a serious and responsible dialogue in a spirit worthy of Iraq and its position, and to open a new page based on mutual trust and joint national action, both from its position and effective participation in making supreme strategic decisions."

Al-Hakim demanded that “there should be a clear and public mechanism before the people in choosing the president of the republic, and not to keep this behind the scenes and closed meetings, to get rid of the personalization of matters and aggravate positions.

He stressed, "It is not possible to remain silent about the violation of Iraqi sovereignty, and we are still witnessing flagrant violations of Iraqi sovereignty, and we have repeatedly stressed that we are not those who offend its neighbor or wish to disturb Iraq's relations with its neighbors, especially with the existence of historical, cultural ties and economic interests that bind us with them, as neither our religion nor our national principles allow it.
