Iran Press/ Iran news: The 5th Global Congress of Imam Reza (AS) kicked off today, May 13, and is underway until May 14 in Mashhad, Khorasan Razavi Province, northeast of Iran.
Bishop Ignatius Stavropoulos, head of Nafpaktos Monastery in Greece, said the conference asks the people of different religions and countries to ask God so that justice and peace are maintained on the earth.
Another Christian cleric said that the congress conveys an important message to the world that religions should be promoters of peace. Another interviewee told Iran Press that justice should not be imposed from the position of power but it should be taught from the position of the oppressed.
Saif ul-Din Kara from the University of Groningen associated the theme with the current situation in Gaza that brutal oppression is being practiced on the people of Gaza and the whole world has remained silent.
A researcher said the solution to maintain justice is not easy and it may take beyond the present era but the conference was a good step to look at the issue more academically.
The 5th and 6th rounds of the congress, which is scheduled to be held every two years, are titled “The Civilizational Thought of Imam Reza (AS)”.
Some 200 articles have been submitted to the secretariat of the conference, so far.
Understanding the mechanisms of normalization of discrimination, oppression, and hatred alongside appropriate measures for confronting them, the development of the culture of resistance to establish justice, and its connection with Jihad to repel oppression and social discrimination are the topics to be discussed in the event.
During the congress, the creation of a convergence and mutual understanding about general themes such as justice, truth, dignity, discrimination, tyranny, and conflict are on the agenda.
