Iran Press/ Iran News: Iran finished the 2022 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifications with a 2-0 victory against Lebanon. The match was held in Mashhad's Imam Reza Stadium in northeast Iran.
During the Iran-Lebanon match, some national team fans, including a number of women, were not allowed to enter the stadium, an issue that went controversial in the country.
The government spokesman said that in the field of sports, either from the football federation or the provincial boards' side, there have been shortcomings in terms of planning and managing the Iran-Lebanon football match.
Ali Bahadori Jahromi, in response to Iran Press News Agency, stated that in the Iran-Lebanon football match, the officials of the Khorasan Province Federation or Sports Board had shortcomings both in the local field and in the planning and holding of the match.
He stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran has a history of hosting the World Cup before, and there has not been and will not be any misbehaving towards spectators.
Bahadori Jahromi pointed out: "Ebrahim Raisi, the president, has ordered the interior minister to thoroughly investigate the issue and deal with the perpetrators, take the necessary measures and submit a report, and this report will be presented to the president soon."
