Iran Press/America: During an official state visit to Italy on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin recalled that on Jan. 23 Juan Guaido raised his eyes to heaven and, addressing God, proclaimed himself the “interim president" of Venezuela, in violation of the Constitution of the Latin American nation.
At a joint press conference with Italy’s PM Giuseppe Conte, Putin addressed the current situation in Venezuela, said that since opposition lawmaker Guaido proclaimed himself president “before God” yet received no heavenly “signs,” it's time to get back to earth and dialogue; according to Iran Press.

"But God did not tell us what his reaction to this message was, he did not give us any sign, that's why I believe we should return to sinful earth and abide by democratic procedures," the Russian president stated.
“The long-term crisis in the South American country is very worrisome for Russia, as well as the repeated attempts to stir it up from abroad,” Vladimir Putin said at a joint press conference with Italy’s PM, explaining that the standoff between the legitimate, elected president Nicolas Maduro and self-claimed ‘interim-president’ Juan Guaido is damaging to the very concept of democracy.
Putin added that “Military intervention must be ruled out, but any political meddling must be ruled out as well”.
Earlier at an economic forum in the second city of Saint Petersburg, Putin told reporters that "the West was "crazy" for supporting an opposition leader in Venezuela over its president.
"But if we adopt this way of coming to power, a man walks into a square, lifts up his eyes to heaven and declares himself president before God; would this be normal or not?" he told heads of global news agencies, adding that "Well, then chaos will consume the world; Let's elect a US president, a British prime minister, a French president like that. What will it be?," Putin noted.
The crisis in Venezuela started back in January 2019, when opposition politician, Juan Guaido declared himself 'the president of Venezuela', and promptly received backing from Washington and a number of other Western countries.
The Trump administration wants regime change in Venezuela and has used sanctions pressure, and even sent military forces to neighboring Colombia, hoping to foment an uprising against the democratically-elected president, Nicolas Maduro.
Despite all plots and pressures, Maduro has so far managed to retain actual control over the country, as Guaido and his supporters failed both to incite mass defections among the military, as well as to gather large enough street protests to paralyze and topple the government.
On the other side, most countries, including Iran, Russia, Turkey, and China have declared that they support the legitimate government of President Maduro and any measure and change in the country has to be through democratic norms and people’s will. 212/104
