Commentary:

After Lebanese Cabinet member Najib Mikati met with Lebanese President Michel Aoun and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, the Lebanese presidency officially announced that the decree to form a new Lebanese government had been signed.

Iran PressMiddle East: Following the August 4 blast of the port of Beirut, which killed 200 people and injured more than 6,000, Hassan Diab faced protests and resigned as Lebanese prime minister but still served as caretaker prime minister.

In the past year, three people have been designated to form a cabinet in Lebanon:

Mustafa Adib was initially tasked to form Lebanon's new cabinet but announced a month later that he would not carry out the mission due to political interference.

"I wanted the formation of a new cabinet without politicization, unfortunately, it is not possible under the current situation," Mustafa Adib said after withdrawing.

Then, Saad Hariri was to form the cabinet. He had previously served as Lebanon's prime minister three times for a total of five years in a decade.

However, while Hariri was familiar with the political rules in the Lebanese cabinet formation process, he was not on the same page with Lebanese President Michel Aoun on some issues. Nine months later, he announced that he would not be able to form a cabinet and resigned.

With Hariri's resignation, Michel Aoun on July 26 appointed Najib Mikati to form a new cabinet. Mikati has been Lebanon's prime minister twice before.

After about two months, Mikati succeeded in forming Lebanon's new cabinet, ending the country's political stalemate after 13 months.

The new cabinet has 24 ministers. Political disputes in Lebanon temporarily ended with the agreement of Mikati and Aoun to form a new cabinet.

Political tensions will temporarily ease following the formation of a new cabinet, leading to new parliamentary elections in Lebanon next year.

Therefore, the life of Najib Mikati's government will be less than one year. With the new parliamentary elections, political tensions in Lebanon over the nomination of a prime minister and the formation of a new cabinet are likely to rise again.

"Lebanon is not in a good situation," new Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said after forming the new cabinet.

The main reason for Mikati's remarks is the economic and social situation in Lebanon. Lebanon currently owes more than $ 90 billion and is facing an economic crisis. The country is experiencing one of the biggest economic crises since the 1975-1990 civil war.

On the other hand, the electricity, fuel, and even water crisis made the Lebanese people very angry. Lebanon has repeatedly witnessed demonstrations in protest of the deteriorating economic conditions.

There is no expectation that Najib Mikati's interim cabinet will reduce Lebanon's problems, especially in the economic sphere. However, the new government has more powers, which is a step forward for the Lebanese political scene.
