Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Minister says that western countries wanted Iran to play a role in solving the crisis in Ukraine.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Tuesday before his departure to Russia: "The main purpose of the trip is trying to solve the crisis in Ukraine based on the request made by Western countries."

Meanwhile, Iran's Foreign Minister stated: "Bilateral relations and the issue of Afghanistan are also on the agenda."

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia had earlier announced that Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov are scheduled to meet in Moscow on Wednesday.

As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia had announced in a tweet, during his trip to Russia, Amir-Abdollahian also aims to discuss the revival of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
