UK (IP) - The European Troika—comprising the United Kingdom, France, and Germany—has issued a joint statement accusing Iran of "nuclear escalation," while omitting any reference to the West's own failures to uphold commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Iran Press/Europe: The statement was released following a report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) claiming that Iran has significantly increased its uranium enrichment activities. According to the European countries, Iran's actions represent a concerning step away from compliance with international nuclear agreements.

"We, the governments of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, condemn Iran's recent steps to advance its nuclear program," the Troika declared in their statement. They further urged Iran to reverse these measures immediately, calling for an end to what they described as "nuclear escalation."

This comes after comments made last week by Rafael Grossi, Director General of the IAEA. Speaking to Agence France-Presse, Grossi characterized Iran’s enrichment advancements as a "clear message that they are responding to what they perceive as pressure."

The Western nations have already passed two resolutions against Iran this year within the IAEA's Board of Governors, underscoring what they call "mounting concerns" over Tehran's nuclear activities.
