Top European commission official , Maja Bakran Marcich said on Monday that Iran is actively involved with international cooperation within maritime sector.

Iran news/: In an exclusive interview with Iran press international news agency correspondent, Maja Bakran Marcich, European Commission's deputy director general for Mobility and Transport while explaining satisfaction over coming to Iran's Monday workshop on maritime, transport, port and logistic, explained the fact that since over 80 percent of goods are transported by maritime the sector is emphasized in Europe as well as Iran.

The top European official went on to welcome exchange ideas as well as sharing experiences with her Iranian counterparts.

Emphasizing the sustainability of maritime transportation, Maja Bakran Marcich called for international level of cooperation within the international maritime organization. She also mentioned Iran as one of the active countries in this regard.

Calling Iran as an active country in maritime sector , the European Commission warned about the " The digital transformation of the transport " as the big challenge facing the maritime industry.

Finally, she mentioned reducing administrative barriers as an important issue as well as paving ground for easier processing documentations of ships and ports.  

Earlier on Sep 8, 2018, International Maritime Organization (IMO) Secretary General Kitack Lim said that Iran's cooperation with the organization is great.

"We have been enjoying a lot of cooperation and collaboration with government of Iran and also contributing a lot to International Maritime Organization (IMO) work", IMO Secretary General Kitack Lim said in an interview with  Iran press news agency correspondent.

 Maja Bakran Marcich's words came on the sidelines of the 2-day - Workshop on Port, Maritime &logistics held on November 12 -13,in the Iranian capital of Tehran.105/203
