Iran's Parliament speaker told his South African counterpart that since Trump's behavior is not lasting and eternal, it should not be allowed to undermine the friendship between the two nations.

Iran Press/Europe: Ali Larijani met with the speaker of the South African Parliament Baleka Mbete, on the sidelines of the World Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting in Belgrade on Monday evening.

Speaking at the meeting, Larijani referred to the importance of developing economic relations between Iran and South Africa, saying, "Trump's behavior is not lasting and eternal and therefore it should not be allowed to undermine friendships between the two nations, but this requires political will."

"Your sense of responsibility towards Palestine is very valuable," Larijani said, appreciating South Africa's political stance on the Palestinian issue.

The speaker of the South African Parliament, for her part, said South Africa's position on Palestine would never change.

Baleka Mbete also called for closer ties between South Africa and Iran, adding that if the two parliamentarians were in touch, they could get to know each other's mechanisms and parliamentary affairs, which would affect both countries' trade relations.
