Iran PressAfrica: The spokesperson of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday: Ihab Nasr, The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt for European Affairs summoned the charge d'affaires of the Swedish Embassy in Cairo.

Egypt has already declared its protest and full condemnation of the deplorable acts of desecration and burning of the Holy Quran in Sweden to the Swedish minister.

In a meeting with the charge d'affaires of the Swedish Embassy, the Deputy Minister for Europe of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Cairo had previously warned about the negative and dangerous consequences of such unacceptable actions and that these events will only lead to an increase in Islamophobia, hatred, extremism and encouraging destructive ideas, which have no other purpose than disrupting relations between nations and countries.

Nasr stressed Egypt's firm and opposing position on insulting religions and their followers and added: "This issue cannot be a sign of freedom of speech and freedom of speech requires not insulting the beliefs and sanctities of others."

He asked the authorities of Sweden and other countries that witnessed similar incidents to take the necessary measures to prevent the repetition of such unfortunate incidents and punish the perpetrators and try to maintain the culture of peaceful coexistence and acceptance of others in order to strengthen friendly and civilized relations between the nations and countries of the world.
