The Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS) official said on Sunday night that there will be no negotiation with Niger's military council to manage a three-year transition period in the country.

Iran PressAfrica: This ECOWAS comissioner said: "The ECOWAS delegation to Niger was able to present the position of our group to the commander of the coup plotters in Niger, and this is a positive development."

This Ecowas official said: "The military option is still valid and we have not given up on it."

Also, the Economic Community of West African States has rejected Niger junta’s three-year power transition plan, ECOWAS Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Abdel-Fatau Musah, stated.

It will be recalled that the coup leader, General Abdourahamane Tchiani, had at a meeting with ECOWAS delegation, led by General Abadulsalami Abubakar, retd, in Niamey on Saturday, promised the military government would return Niger Republic to democracy in three years.

Meanwhile, the Council of the coup plotters of Niger announced on Sunday to the delegation of the Economic Community of West African States that it will never allow the return of the deposed president of this country, Mohammed Bazoum, to office.

On Wednesday, July 26, Niger's presidential guard forces detained the country's president, Mohamed Bazoum, inside the presidential palace, and then removed him from his position. 219
