The Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday that conducting exercises near Russia’s southern border is a “hostile act” by the United States, noting that Moscow has not provoked anyone.

Iran PressEurope: The Russian Ministry stated: “Russia has not provoked anyone, and the activity of the United States and its allies in the Black Sea region has witnessed a remarkable growth.” 

It also noted that “the Russian Su-30 fighter took off on Wednesday to intercept a British RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft close to the country’s borders.”

The Ministry added that “the British RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft tried to approach the Russian border towards the Crimea for a distance of 30 km, after it was intercepted.”

And it concluded, “With this, 4 NATO reconnaissance planes were discovered over the Black Sea in just one day.”

Earlier Thursday, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Pesko said that “President Vladimir Putin is concerned about the actions of the United States in the Black Sea and is closely monitoring the situation.

The Black Sea is the main arena of confrontation between Russia and the West.

In recent years, NATO has had a large presence near Russia and its border areas under the pretext of Moscow's anti-Western threats.
