Khartoum (IP) - International Quds Day was held in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan and other cities in the African country.

Iran PressAfrica: The Sheikh Hamad al-Nil al-Islami Assembly in Khartoum held a ceremony on the occasion of Quds Day with the participation of leaders of Sudanese Islamic and political parties.

The speakers at the ceremony on Friday evening stressed the importance of Holy Quds in the Islamic world and its pivotal role in the unity of the Islamic Ummah.

Speaking to an Iran Press correspondent in Khartoum on the sidelines of the ceremony, the leader of the Sudanese National Ummah Party, Abdul Mahmoud Abu, expressed support for the Palestinian resistance against the Israeli regime, saying that support for Al-Quds and the Al-Aqsa Mosque is essential.

In an interview with Iran Press, Saleh Omar, a Sudanese religious figure, said that Al-Quds is for Muslims, adding that the Quds Day means showing the unity of the Islamic Ummah in support of Holy Quds.

Islamic nations and supporters of Palestine in different countries of the world on Friday participated in the Quds Day rally, supporting the ideals and rights of the Palestinians and condemning the Israeli regime's crimes against the Palestinians in various dimensions.

Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Revolution, had declared the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as Quds Day to survive the fundamental issue of Palestine and declare the solidarity of Muslims with the Palestinians and mobilize forces to save Holy Quds from the Israel's occupation.
