Commentary:

Tehran (IP)- After the Islamic Republic of Iran announced on November 29 that nuclear talks between Tehran would resume and talks with the P4+1 in Vienna, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced that Beijing, in cooperation with Russia, intended to help revive the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Iran Presscommentary: The Chinese government has emphasized that the return to the JCPOA on Iran's nuclear program must be in the interests of each party and based on mutual respect.

Ali Bagheri, the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stated that the Vienna talks aim to lift illegal and inhumane sanctions.

The fact is that the relevant international community approves the peaceful nuclear program of the Islamic Republic of Iran. In particular, the International Atomic Energy Agency has carefully monitored the nuclear activities of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the agreement and has consistently confirmed that it is peaceful.

However, to create nuclear apartheid and monopoly in this field, the United States is trying to prevent other countries from pursuing atomic programs. With various accusations, it uses sanctions to deprive independent countries of access to peaceful nuclear programs.

JD Jiang, a political scientist at Beijing University, believes that the Islamic Republic of Iran has remained in the deal despite the withdrawal of the United States from the JCPOA and has always adhered to it, so a solution acceptable to all parties can be found.

Iran, China share common stance on removal of US illegal sanctions

The Islamic Republic of Iran has always participated in negotiations to demonstrate its goodwill over its nuclear activities. Still, it is the United States that, ignoring collective efforts, has tried to force Tehran to suspend its nuclear activities by imposing sanctions. For this reason, during the presidency of Donald Trump, the United States withdrew from the JCPOA and tried to force Tehran to surrender to its coercive demands.

At the same time, the Islamic Republic of Iran, while maintaining peaceful nuclear activities by emphasizing its positions, has tried to show the United States that it cannot prevent the actions of independent countries in this field by nuclear apartheid.

Former Chinese ambassador to Tehran believes that the JCPOA has played a significant role in maintaining peace in the West Asian region. Although the United States tried to persuade other signatories to leave the deal, the international community, including China, did not allow Washington.

In any case, China's insistence on working with Russia to revive the JCPOA as its member states can undoubtedly strengthen the process. But China and Russia are expected to act as two permanent members of the UN Security Council to help meet the demands of independent states, including on peaceful nuclear activities, beyond propaganda, and to resist pressure and US coercive measures and unilateralism.
