Tehran (IP) - Deepening political and economic ties with Latin American states is one of Iran's foreign policy priorities, says Iran's president Ebrahim Raisi in his meeting with the Secretary-General of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples Our America (ALBA), Sacha Sergio Llorenti Soliz.

Iran PressIran news: Speaking on Tuesday night in a meeting with the Secretary-General of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA), Ebrahim Raisi stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the member states of the ALBA have common values, saying, "The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to develop its political and economic relations with the ALBA member states, and considers this in line with the values ​​and common positions of the two sides.”

Raisi stressed the need for bilateral cooperation and said, "It is necessary to increase the level of cooperation and coordination in various bilateral, regional and international areas with proper planning and readiness."

The President said that the arrogant and extravagant countries of the world consider the efforts of independent and freedom-seeking nations as anti-values and conspire against them, saying, "There is no doubt that further development of relations between Iran and Latin American countries can paralyse the Americans and other arrogant countries.”

Secretary-General of the ALBA, Sacha Sergio Llorenti Soliz, also expressed his satisfaction with the presence of 9 members of the ALBA in Tehran and congratulated President Ebrahim Raisi on his election as the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, saying, "The goal of the ALBA is to further deepen relations between the ALBA member states and the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

He added, "Iran and the ALBA have much in common and both seek to defend the independence and sovereignty of nations and to stand up to the United States’ extravagance.
