Tehran (IP) - Iran's Interior Minister has stated that Iran and Tajikistan are willing to improve, extend and promote ties at the highest political and cultural levels.

Iran PressIran news: The joint meeting of the Ministers of Interior of Iran and Tajikistan Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli and Ramazan Rahimzadeh was held at the Interior Ministry in Tehran Tuesday.

In the meeting, Iran's Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli stressed Iran and Tajikistan had many cultural commonalities, noting: "Iranians are interested in the culture and people of Tajikistan, as the Tajik people are interested in Iranians and their culture."

Addressing Tajik counterpart Ramazan Rahimzadeh, Rahmani Fazli highlighted: "Tajik Defense Minister Shir Ali Mirza paid a visit to Iran and met his counterpart, Brigadier General Amir Hatami. I hope that the defense relations between the two countries get expanded and stronger."

"Regional and cultural relations between the two countries have been successful," said the Iranian high-ranking official.

Emphasizing that the two countries seek to deepen and expand ties, Rahmani Fazli added that Iran and Tajikistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding on security, police cooperation, organized crime, and narcotics.

The Iranian minister stressed that to expand investment, the economic, and trade fields, a memorandum of understanding was inked between the two countries.

Elsewhere Rahmani Fazli underlined that improving the Persian language, exchanging teacher and student between the two countries were also discussed.

Tajik Interior Minister Ramadan Rahimzadeh, for his part, stressed that the visit to Iran would be fruitful, noting, the goals of his trip to Iran are to expand bilateral ties.

The Tajik official said that the two countries had inked a memorandum of understanding on security, narcotics, economy, and culture.

The Tajik Interior Minister Ramazan Rahimzadeh left for Tehran on Monday morning for an official visit.

The high-ranking Tajik delegation will meet with Iranian officials to discuss bilateral cooperation on security issues, economy, language, culture, the fight against narcotics, and other issues.
