Iranian President of the National Olympic Committee:

Tehran (IP) - President of the National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran said the country currently has many seats in international sports, but a small number of them are effective in championship sports and efforts are underway to gain effective seats in international sports.

Iran PressIran News: In a meeting with reporters, Reza Salehi Amiri stated that the requirements for gaining the power of diplomacy in the field of sports are political relations and economic power, and these days a country that can have these two components will be more successful in gaining international hosting and seats.

"If we want to have influential and effective seats in international sports, we must have ten years of goal setting along with bargaining power," he noted.

Salehi Amiri pointed out that Iran currently has 500 international seats in sports in Asia and the world, about 450 of which don't have the necessary value, and their presence or absence has no effect on Iranian championship sports and is mostly ceremonial.

"Of course, by having strong political relations with countries, spending money, and having the knowledge of diplomacy, we can move towards gaining international seats," he added.

"Efforts are underway to achieve this goal, and we have signed strategic agreements with countries such as Iraq, Oman, and Qatar," the official announced.

"Of course, we have consulted with the member countries of the Olympic Council of Asia about the latest situation of karate in the 2024 Paris Olympics and other disciplines in which Iran has a chance to win a medal," he added.
