A group of Pakistani scholars and intellectuals, in a recent academic gathering, called on Islamic nations to end their trust in the United States and its allies, take concrete measures in support of Palestine, and stand united against the aggression of the Zionist regime.

Why it matters:

With the Gaza ceasefire increasingly in jeopardy, and the threat of genocide reigniting, calls for stronger support for the Palestinians have been growing across many Muslim countries. Pakistani scientists and intellectuals calling for practical action in support of Palestine is very significant since Pakistan is one of the most populous Muslim countries in the world.

Driving the news:

On Wednesday morning, after a night of massive airstrikes, the Israeli army martyred 104 Palestinians, among them 46 children and 20 women. The Gaza ceasefire is on the brink of collapse.

On the occasion of the International Day of Struggle Against Arrogance (4 November), a scientific conference entitled 'We and the West; Re-examining the Palestinian Experience' was held by the Cultural Attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Islamabad.

The big picture:

A group of Pakistani scholars and scientific elites, in a scientific meeting, emphasized the necessity for Islamic countries to cut their trust in the U.S. and its allies, and called for practical action in support of the Palestinians people and confronting Zionist aggression. The Pakistani scholars stressed that the era of slogans is over and the Islamic Ummah must defend the Palestinian cause through unity and collective will.

What they're saying:

At this meeting, attended by a number of university professors and Pakistani intellectuals and a delegation from Baqir al-Ulum University of Qom led by Dr. Ahmad Rehdari, participants examined the approach of the Islamic world towards the West and the Zionist regime. Speakers, while criticizing the biased approach of some Western governments, stated that the support of the Western public for freedom of Palestine does not align with the stance of their governments.

They added: "It is no longer the time for mere speeches about unity; rather, it is time to take practical steps to defend the Palestinian cause and safeguard the interests and identity of Muslim nations".

Ahmad Rehdari, a professor at Baqir al-Olum University in Qom, Iran, elaborated on the events of the past two years in the occupied territories following the Al-Aqsa Flood operation.

"The resistance model is Iran's proposal for the Islamic world; resistance is never an Iranian project but an Islamic one. It is an unfair and false accusation to claim that Iran is placing the resistance project on the shoulders of others and Muslims."

Goo deeper:

Both Iran and Pakistan are keen to provide support to the Palestinians who showed astonishing resilience in a genocidal war waged against them for two years.
