Israel’s prison authority has begun transferring Palestinian security prisoners as part of the first phase of a prisoner exchange agreement.

Why it matters:

Every released prisoner—particularly those held for years—serves as evidence that “resistance” against the Israeli Occupation is effective.

Details:

According to Yedioth Ahronoth, inmates are being transferred from five Israeli prisons to designated release facilities.

The deal involves the release of approximately 250 prisoners serving life sentences, along with 1,700 detainees from Gaza who were arrested after October 7.

What's happening:

Footage from the Occupied Territories shows Israel’s Nachshon unit carrying out overnight transfers using specialized minibuses.

What’s next:

Hebrew media reports suggest the release could take place later today (Saturday) or by Sunday.
