The protest followed Hamas's conditional acceptance of parts of U.S. President Donald Trump's so-called proposed plan to end the war in Gaza. While the plan includes the release of Israeli captives, it sidesteps key issues such as disarmament and sovereignty, raising concerns among supporters of the Palestinian resistance.
Pedro Sanchez Ocana, a 60-year-old protester, condemned the plan as a “rat trap,” saying that Washington has been trying to manipulate Hamas and the broader Palestinian cause to serve its own geopolitical interests. Holding a sign that read “Arrest Netanyahu, War Criminal,” Sanchez joined others in demanding accountability for Israel’s Prime Minister, whose military campaign has left thousands dead.
Another protester, Jalil El Amshari, expressed frustration over the lack of alternatives: “There was no other choice than to accept what Trump and Zionism offered.” His banner read, “Gaza, it hurts me.”
Sara Guelle, visibly emotional, said: “My heart is boiling because of the injustice Palestinians have suffered since 1948. Innocent women and children are being killed. It’s a total injustice.”
Elizabeth Alaman, 47, criticized European politicians for their failure to respond adequately: “They abandoned our fellow citizens who went to Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid. We’ve been left soulless. They need to listen to the people and understand how angry and ready for change we are.”
Mar Martin, a 63-year-old activist, added in English: “I’m here to denounce what Israel is doing and to support the people of Palestine. I’ve been in touch with friends in Gaza for three years. This is personal.”
According to Iran Press, the Barcelona protest reflects a growing global awakening to the brutality of the Israeli regime and the hypocrisy of Western governments that claim to champion human rights while enabling occupation and war crimes. The voices in Barcelona echo a broader resistance movement determined not to let the Palestinian struggle be reduced to political bargaining or silenced by media bias.
