The event is being attended by political and religious figures from both Lebanon and abroad.
Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, is attending the ceremony at the head of a delegation.
Two hours before the event began, the mosauleum of the late Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah was packed with crowds of people.
President Joseph Aoun said: “On this painful anniversary of the martyrdom of Hezbollah’s two former Secretary Generals, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashem Safi al-Din, we reaffirm that honoring the sacrifices made by the men of this nation—regardless of their affiliations—and remaining faithful to their legacy, can only be achieved through unity of stance and by rallying around the vision of one strong and just state.”
The President further stated on the anniversary of the two leaders: “The sacrifices made by the men of this nation can only be safeguarded through unity of stance.”
He added: “The dangers facing Lebanon today can only be confronted through national solidarity, the rejection of division, and the reaffirmation that true protection lies solely with the Lebanese state—the only authority that holds legitimacy and guarantees security for all Lebanese without distinction or discrimination.’”
