Ayatollah Khamenei described martyrdom as the reward of jihad and emphasized that nations grow through these acts of jihad and gain splendor and shine through martyrdom.
The text of his message, which was recited by Hojjatoleslam Mousavi Moghaddam, the Representative of the Leader in the Foundation for Martyrs and Veterans Affairs, during the ceremony of flower-laying at the Cemetery of Martyrs in Tehran, is as follows:

This year, Sacred Defense Week has acquired another splendor and glory with the martyrdom of a group of prominent figures and brave youths in various locations on the path of Islamic resistance.
Martyrdom is the reward of jihad, whether in the 8-year defense, or in the heroic 12-day battle, and whether in Lebanon, Gaza, or Palestine. Nations grow through these acts of jihad and gain splendor and shine through these martyrdoms.
The important thing is to have certainty in God’s promise regarding the victory of truth and the demise of falsehood, and to remain committed to our duty in supporting God's religion.
