Grossi acknowledged Iran's advanced nuclear capabilities when asked by CBS host that whether Iran, given recent developments, is moving toward expanding its nuclear activities:
“Iran had a very extensive and ambitious program; part of it may still be ongoing. And even if it is not, there is a reality that cannot be denied: the technical knowledge exists in Iran, and so does the industrial "capacity.
"Iran is an advanced country in terms of nuclear technology, and that is entirely evident. Therefore, such knowledge cannot be eliminated. Whether military options are on the table or not, the issue is definitely not solvable through military means,” Grossi explained.
He emphasized on a diplomatic solution and said that the solution is reaching an agreement. There must be a mechanism for inspections that can instill confidence in countries in the region and around the world.
Rafael Grossi also expressed the lack of awareness about the location of Iran’s 60% enriched uranium:
“I have no information on the current location of the enriched material. Part of it may have been destroyed during the 12-day attacks, and part may have been relocated.”
