"As long as the attacks and violations continue, there is no point in discussing talks," Araghchi stated. "We have made it clear that we will not engage with the US, which is complicit in these crimes."
The foreign minister detailed Iran’s diplomatic efforts since the onset of the Israeli regime’s attacks, noting that the Foreign Ministry has been in constant communication with counterparts from over 30 countries. President Pezeshkian has also held discussions with several world leaders, and Araghchi himself has engaged with the UN Secretary-General, calling for an emergency UN Security Council meeting. Such a meeting was held last week, and another is scheduled for this week at the request of China, Russia, Pakistan, and Algeria.
Araghchi criticised Western nations for failing to condemn the Israeli regime’s aggressions, particularly its strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities. "Under international law, attacking nuclear facilities is an unforgivable violation," he said. "Yet Western countries avoid addressing this issue, offering no justification for their silence."
The minister highlighted the undeniable evidence of US involvement in the attacks, pointing to statements by US officials and their use of collective language, such as "we," when discussing the strikes. "Their participation requires no further proof," Araghchi asserted.
Addressing calls from some nations to de-escalate tensions and return to diplomacy, Araghchi responded sharply: "We were already engaged in diplomacy when the attacks began. What exactly are we supposed to return to?"
He also dismissed Western media reports suggesting Iran is open to talks with the US. "These reports seem to reflect their own desire for negotiations," he said. "But our position is clear: as long as the aggression continues, there will be no dialogue."
Araghchi praised Iran’s armed forces for their "courageous resistance," stating that their actions have exposed the futility of the Israeli regime’s attempts to intimidate Iran. "Their plan to swiftly subdue the Iranian nation has failed," he said. "As our resistance continues, we expect more countries to distance themselves from the Israeli regime’s aggression and call for an end to this conflict."
Last Friday, the Israeli regime, in a blatant violation of international laws and Iran’s national sovereignty, targeted areas in Tehran and some other cities in a military attack. During this terrorist attack, several military commanders, scientists, and civilian citizens were martyred.
In response, Iran’s military forces launched Operation True Promise-3 against the regime.
