Iran's Deputy Representative to the UN said the international community must force the Israeli regime to join the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Iran Press/America: Eshaq Al-e Habib who attended a virtual meeting on the anniversary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) on Thursday referred to the destructive role of the Israeli regime in the region and stressed that the international community must force Israel to join NPT and permit IAEA access to its nuclear facilities.

Al-e Habib criticized the US' negative role in preventing the proliferation of nuclear weapons and noted that with 1054 nuclear tests, the US has had the highest number of the tests in comparison to other countries.

Having the world's largest nuclear arsenal and being the only country using nuclear weapons, the United States not only intends to end nuclear testing and join NPT but also continues to modernize and strengthen its nuclear arsenal, Iran's envoy said.

He reiterated that the destructive role of the United States and the Israeli regime has prevented the realization of the Middle East Weapons of Mass Destruction Free Zone.

The Iranian envoy to the UN stressed that nuclear disarmament must remain at the top of the international community's agenda and that the nuclear tests must be stopped since they are against the soul of NPT and commitment to nuclear disarmament.
