Iran Press/ Commentary: Following the recent Israeli airstrikes on the airport in the Syrian capital, Damascus, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the Israeli ambassador to Moscow and asked him to clarify and explain the recent Israeli attack on the runways of this international airport.
Earlier, Mikhail Bogdanov, the Russian president's special envoy to West Asia and Russia's deputy foreign minister, met with Israeli ambassador to Moscow Alexander Ben Zvi to express concern over the attacks on Damascus International Airport and stressed that the Israeli justification for the attack is not convincing, and Moscow is deeply concerned about the attack, which damaged buildings and air equipment at Damascus Airport.
"The Israeli justification for the airstrikes at Damascus International Airport does not seem convincing, and Moscow is waiting for further explanations, including within the framework of the Israeli-Russian mechanism to prevent dangerous incidents in Syria," Bogdanov said.
Given the growing differences between Russia and Israel over the Ukraine war and the significant increase in Tel Aviv's support for Kiev and coordination with the Western front against Moscow, senior Russian officials have now come to the conclusion that a general review is needed especially over Moscow's relations and stances on the actions of the Israeli regime, especially in the context of repeated Israeli airstrikes against various targets in Syria.

Prior to this, Moscow was generally silent about these attacks, but now it has openly taken a stand on this issue and has even summoned the Israeli ambassador to Moscow to give an explanation. This action is a sign of lack of tolerating the recurrence of such attacks by Israel is in fact a serious warning to Tel Aviv.
Although at the beginning of the Ukraine war, the Israeli regime took a relatively neutral position and even called on Russia and Ukraine to accept a political solution and stop the war, with the continuation and expansion of the war in Ukraine and the entry of Western-led US to serious support for Kiev and proxy war with Russia, Tel Aviv officials seem to have come to the conclusion that they need to define their front.
Israeli officials, such as Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, have condemned Moscow for alleged Russian war crimes in Ukraine and even sent military equipment to Tel Aviv. Lapid's stance actually created unprecedented tensions and coldness in relations between Moscow and Tel Aviv, and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's reciprocal stance led to Nazi Germany leader Adolf Hitler being considered a Jew-origin.
The gradual U-turn in Israel's position on the Ukraine war has become very worrisome for Russia, which has always been thought to have excellent relations with Tel Aviv and has always welcomed Israeli leaders warmly.
For this reason, it can be predicted that Moscow has made a fundamental revision of the nature and quality of relations with the Israeli regime and has taken a new position on the Israeli regime's actions on issues such as how Tel Aviv treats the Palestinians and the repeated attacks against Syria. This is evident in Russia's stance on the Israeli regime's attack on Damascus airport.
