Tehran (IP)- The scientific-tourist tour of the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) arrived in Razavi Khorasan, northeastern Iran on Saturday morning from Turkmenistan.

Iran PressIran news: On the sidelines of the welcoming ceremony of the CIS tour, Mehdi Alamdar, head of the international affairs department of the Islamic Republic of Iran Tourism and Motoring Center (TACI) said: Today, 22 road managers and officials from 10 different nationalities from the CIS countries entered the country on a six-day-trip with a special bus hosted by the (TACI).

CIS encompasses some independent republics of the Soviet Union, which were formed in a security and economic cooperation agreement including the republics of Armenia, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Tajikistan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, and Azerbaijan.

Since 2005, Turkmenistan has participated as an associate member of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

There are border crossings between Iran and Turkmenistan. Most of the commercial traffic is carried out by rail and road between the two countries through Sarkhas, Inche Borun, and Lotfabad crossings, respectively.
