Tehran (IP) - The Chinese ambassador to Tehran congratulated Iran on joining the BRICS group.

Iran PressIran news: On Thursday, the president of South Africa, in a joint press conference with the leaders of Russia, China, Brazil, and India, announced the agreement of the BRICS leaders to accept Iran's official membership in the group.

The membership of Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Argentina will be formally announced at the beginning of January 2024.

China's Ambassador to Tehran, Chang Hua, in a message on the X social network, formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday, congratulated Iran on joining the BRICS group and wrote: "Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates have been invited to participate in the cooperation mechanism of the BRICS member states." 

The BRICS group was established with the cooperation of five emerging economic powers, including Brazil, Russia, China, India, and South Africa, to counter the unilateralism of the United States.
