Tehran (IP)- Iran's Minister of Culture announced the beginning of the registration process for Umrah in the coming days.

Iran PressIran news: Mohammad Mehdi Esmaeili said: "The obstacles to dispatching to Umrah have been removed and the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization will carry out the registration for Umrah."

The Umrah is an Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca that can be undertaken at any time of the year, in contrast to the Hajj.

In Arabic, the word “Umrah” means “to visit a populated place”. This event is a non-obligatory, but important pilgrimage for Muslims to the holy city of Masjid al-Haram in Mecca. The majority of pilgrims perform the Umrah pilgrimage during Ramadan, or in the two Islamic lunar months leading up to it, Rajab and Sha'ban.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday after the weekly meeting of the Cabinet, the minister of culture, also added, that on the occasion of Book Week, President Raisi ordered the half-finished projects of Iran's libraries, which are about 500 designs, to be finished and ready to be inaugurated.
