Vienna (IP) - Iran's top negotiator and the EU's coordinator of the 2015 Iran international nuclear deal met each other in Vienna and discussed the revival of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action(JCPOA).

Iran PressEurope: Iran's top negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani and the EU’s coordinator of the 2015 Iran international nuclear deal Enrique Mora met in Vienna on Thursday at noon to discuss the resumption of talks over the revival of the JCPOA.

The negotiating team of the Islamic Republic of Iran, headed by Ali Bagheri Kani, arrived in Vienna, the capital city of Austria, this morning (Thursday) to participate in the new round of negotiations to lift the cruel American sanctions.

Iran's international nuclear agreement or the so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was signed between the country and P5+1 countries (Russia, China, UK, Germany, France, and the US) in 2015, but the US scrapped it on May 18, 2018, re-imposing more sanctions on Iran.

The Vienna Talks were an initiative centered around the revival of the JCPOA and the removal of the sanctions on Iran, but the Western parties' refusal to fulfill their commitments to the international agreement procrastinated the process of negotiations.

The eighth round of sanctions talks began in Vienna on December 27, 2021, in Vienna, after a short break, this time without the US and between Iran and the P4+1 group.

Earlier on Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani announced that this round of talks would be held as before with the coordination of the European Union.

There will be a discussion and exchange of views on the ideas presented by the parties, including the ideas presented by the Islamic Republic of Iran, which were presented to the other side earlier this week, he added.

In a tweet late on Wednesday, Iran’s chief negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani wrote, “Heading to Vienna to advance the negotiations. The Onus is on those who breached the deal & have failed to distance from ominous legacy.”
